Joseph, I wonder if you've had a chance to get into Afro-pessimism yet, particularly Frank B. Wilderson III. He has an interesting history with the ANC and strong class/race-based critiques of it. The whole field is pretty interesting honestly. Saidiya Hartman and Hortense Spillers have some wonderful and provocative writings as well.
